What to do as an artist in training.
There are many ways to Rome they say. But I meet a lot of aspiring artists lost and asking me for guidance

Graphic designer, Concept artist (mobile and high end), Illustrator of book covers or for card games and so much more.
Once you can make your pick, or at least pick 1 or 2 you must do research on the most valued artwork from that niece.

Epic Resources List - How to Get Awesome at Art
I often get asked how to get better at drawing and painting. While the main answer is practice there are a lot of fantastic resources that will make the journey far easier; below is a list of the ones I have personally found most useful. Some are free and some are paid, if you want the paid ones please actually buy them and support the hard-working artists that spend their valuable time providing quality education.
Also this is enough material to last you for, literally, years, so get one at a time, study it in detail, then once you're thoroughly finished move on to the next one. Reading a book or watching a dvd doesn't make you better. What
Journal time!! I apologize for the length of this post, but I think it's important for artists, especially newer artists, to consider. Hopefully it will be of some use to you in your artistic journey. :)
SO... ConceptArt has been sending out emails to promo their study programs with little snippets of advice, some of them are good but one of them that came the other day really irks me. The first thing on their list is, "Study with a sense of urgency"
Now... this is my opinion, but I've heard similar sentiments from many other artists and creators who I would consider, "successful" in their field. And, in my opinion, "Study with a sense of u

My current learning process.
(UPDATE - Ravenwilder and I have teamed up as Artbuddies. You can follow my progress with learning art here.)
Proceed down the playlists numerically, practice alongside as and when relevant. These will work even if you are a complete beginner and have never drawn before. If you can write the alphabet, you have enough physical skill to do this. Even if you are an experienced hobbyist artist, it would be best to not skip any of them, especially the first 2 playlists.
PART 1 - Drawing

EDIT 11/28/2019: I have a video for you guys that covers this journal. At this point we are remembering things we are thankful for and appreciate. A lot of people could love and support themselves more. I hope that this can be useful and help you appreciate the skills you do have, or goal you are working towards. It's great for listening to while you work or if you don't want to read a really long journal. LOL
Original Post
So this is something that I've been bottling up for a while and I want to address it. Now, before you harp on me, I am guilty of this from time to time as well. However I want to open up the floor to this conversation.
That one lie we all believe... by DamaiMikaz, journal
That one lie we all believe...
"If I had more talent, more popularity or more followers, I would be happier"
If I got a dollar for every time I've heard somebody say that, I would probably be a millionaire right now. And in all honesty, hearing things like that irk me, knowing how untrue they are.
From early on in life we we get to hear this lie. Be a good kid, get good grades in school, enroll into a prestigious university and get a proper job at some big company.... that'll pave your way to happiness. Life (in the western world, at least) has never been more equal in the opportunity's we get, yet the rates of people suffering from depression and anxiety has never been s
Dear, deviantart fellow artists
There are times when having way too low or way too high expectations can lead to bad results and have a negative impact on things that we do and how we feel.. but how to deal with this problem? How to achieve the perfect balance that would help us in our creative journey? Here are my thoughts about the topic, that I hope might be helpful for you. :)
Too low expectations
When you think that you're not good enough, that you lack the skill, talent that other artists have, being afraid of failing and overthinking all the time. But all those things do only harm - stopping you from actually doing the work, even th
Dear, deviantart fellow artists
Confidence is very meaningful thing for an artist - It helps us to not be afraid of our goals, but we have to remind ourselves that too much of the ego can lead to arrogance and vanity. Here goes my thoughts about the topic and I hope that my insights might be helpful. :)
How to boost the confidence?
If you feel that you are not good enough and you lack the willingness to make & post artworks, just because someone else is better, you don't have the right skill and there is not enough time, and there is no point in that... stop. You are good enough and you have everything you need and there is no rea
